The guesthouse sits at the end of a gravel road, and many visitors read the website on a phone in the car, with one bar of signal. The old site loaded in nineteen seconds on that connection.
We rebuilt it as a handful of static pages with tiny images. The booking form sends an email to the owners and a confirmation to the guest, and a small calendar shows which dates are taken. Payment is by bank transfer after the owners confirm, as they prefer to talk to each guest first.
We spent a day with the owners writing the text. The old site said "unique", "authentic" and "unforgettable" in the first paragraph. The new one says there are four rooms, a sauna, a rowing boat and a bog trail that starts at the gate.
